Promotion Guidelines

Promotion Guidelines
When joining the Lord Clan, you start a career which can bring you all the way to the top of the clan. Lord uses a military ranking structure which means there is always someone in charge.
But first things first. Promotions are given as a reward for a number of different things. Sitting around doing not very much, waiting to be promoted is not one of these things. To be promoted quickly, you'll need to show the following qualities, consistently:
- Activity. If you're not around, then you can't be doing anything useful for the clan.
- Determination. Offering help to others, organising clan events and generally working hard at every given chance will always sway a vote in your favour.
- Initiative. If you see room for improvement, talk to an officer about it. If your idea is a good one, then changes will most likely be made, and you'll most likely be rewarded.
- Loyalty. Joining other clans or not wearing the tag won't get you promoted. In fact, you'll be demoted. Or discharged.
- Communication. Show an interest in clan matters by communicating your views on the forum or in xfire, and make a valuable contribution to discussions.
- Leadership. This is most important for the officer ranks, but it applies to every clan member. If you possess this skill then you most likely possess all of the others, so lead away! Be careful, however, that you don't overstep your authority - remember that a higher ranked Lord is always in charge, regardless of their status on the game that you play.
- Membership period. The time you have spent in the clan is used as a guideline for promotion. However, promotions can be fast-tracked if you are performing particularly well, and conversely they will not be awarded if you're not pulling your weight.
To be promoted, you need to make an effort to show that you have all of these skills. If you do this, you won't need to have someone recommend you for promotion, because the officers will have already noticed.
Procedure
- Lords with a rank of First Sergeant or higher can give new recruits a field promotion from Cadet to Private when they feel they have passed boot camp.
- For the rank of Private First Class or higher an Officer vote is required for promotion.
- A Sergeant or higher can bring in a promotion request.
- Right now, Lord~Jani is the only Lord empowered with a Veto right.
When a member is recommended, a voting period of one week is required. Officers can vote yes or no, and need to give reasons for their choice. After 5 no votes or a veto, the promotion is on hold. When all active officers have voted, or only yes votes cast, the member will receive his/her promotion.
Membership Period Guidelines
The membership periods listed below are a general guideline for how long it will take for a promotion to be awarded. They are not solid rules, and are flexible depending on a member's contribution to the clan.
00 wks joining = Cdt/Cadet - A two week game related bootcamp period starts
02 wks membership = Pvt/Private (field promotion & access to the Private Barracks)
04 wks membership = Pfc/Private First Class (1st Officer vote)
06 wks membership = Cpl/Corporal
02 mth membership = Sgt/Sergeant (access to Sgt Barracks)
03 mth membership = Ssg/Staff Sergeant
04 mth membership = 1Sgt/Sergeant First Class
05 mth membership = SMa/Sergeant-Major of the Army (+ a separate officers vote and MP information is needed)
Officer Ranks require leadership ability (the Clan will be watching!)
07 mth membership = Lt /Lieutenant (access to Office of Administration = Junior officers)
10 mth membership = 1Lt/First-Lieutenant
17 mth membership = Cpt/Captain
24 mth membership = Maj/Major (Access to Joint Chiefs of Staff = Senior Officers only)
30mth membership = LtC/Lieutenant-Colonel
35mth membership = Col/Colonel
40mth membership = Brig.Gen/Brigadier-General
45mth membership = Maj.Gen/Major-General
50mth membership = Lt.Gen/Lieutenant-General
55mth membership = Gen/General of the Army
Provided they succeed in all requirements throughout their career, a cadet can be a General after 5 years.
By order of Brigadier-General*Jani and the Senior Officers.
